Working in coordination with the humanitarian community and the Government of Jordan, the IRC’s assistance programs for Syrian refugees in Jordan include both camp-based and urban-based refugee assistance. IRC is currently addressing the needs of war-affected Syrians from several operational bases in the region. The IRC’s activities in the region focus primarily on the supply of vital medications and medical supplies, non-food items, water and sanitation and child protection and form part of an over-arching humanitarian response in Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Iraq to assist refugees, IDPs and conflict-affected Syrians survive conflict and displacement.
In Mafraq and Azraq Refugee Camp, the IRC is implementing a program to support caregivers of young children through a play-based home visiting intervention. High-quality ECD programs provide the foundation for children’s future academic success, health, prosperity and wellbeing. A large body of scientific evidence emphasizes the need for increased investment in early childhood, particularly for children experiencing conflict, crisis and displacement; these children are extremely vulnerable to the long-lasting effects that prolonged stress has on the developing brain. This program will contribute vital research to the evidence-base for the implementation of ECD in emergency responses.
Job Overview/Summary: The IRC is recruiting the Early Childhood Development Research Manager to coordinate closely with New York University in conducting implementation and measurement research on an evidence-based program to support parents/caregivers of young children ages 0-4. He/she works directly under the supervision of the Early Childhood Development Coordinator.
Ensure adherence to the general research design, sample selection, data management and analysis and overall research project management.
Ensuring all data quality protocols are followed in order to ensure high quality data
Managing data collection from the household or individual level to a final, clean dataset delivered to academic partners
Managing the research budget and spending planning
Working closely with partners to ensure study protocols are followed
work with the research team to ensure compliance with ethical requirements and the IRC Child Safeguarding Policy , and to plan regular check-ins on data collection protocols to ensure client safety
Communicate regularly with the projects academic partners and the Education technical unit
Plan and supervise all monitoring activities.
Ensure the proper collection, filing and archiving of all project monitoring data in all project field sites
Contribute towards review and analysis of the quantitative and qualitative data

Job Requirements: The requirements should establish a baseline (minimum) for educational background, previous work experience, professional knowledge or certification, specific skills and strengths and any other skill necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (social science, public policy, international development, development economics, or a related discipline)
3-6 years experiences managing social science field research; experience managing rigorous research preferred including supervising data collection, teams of surveyors/assessors
Experience with data management and statistical analysis packages, including SPSS and STATA
Ability to handle multiple tasks; proven self-initiative, problem solving abilities, and strong organizational and communication skills
Proven experience in supervision and training in M&E and/or applied research, specific experience training for local teams and local partners an asset
Demonstrated ability to work successfully with diverse constituencies. Experience in working in emergency/humanitarian response a plus
Strong sense of personal integrity and understanding of confidentiality.
Team work skills
Fluency in Arabic and excellent English written and speaking.
