Since 2007, IRC has worked with refugees and other vulnerable populations in Jordan. IRC’s programs in Jordan focus on urban interventions in the north that address gender-based violence specifically violence against women and girls for Syrian refugees and host community members as well as reproductive health care to Syrian refugees through two clinics based in Ramtha and Mafraq. Since January 2013, IRC also carries out Child Protection programs in Syrian refugee camps, providing specialized services for the identification, support and protection of unaccompanied children (UAC) and other children at risk.
The Nurse will take on the role of supporting the medical that will provide services to Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanians. The medical team will consist of two or three doctors, one midwife and two nurses. This position is based in Irbid with continuous travel to target districts within the governorate. Under the direct supervision from the Senior Health Officer, the nurse will provide professional medical care to the highest quality and in accordance with national and international laws and standards.

Internal: Senior Technical Health Officer, Health Manager
Education: A certified Nursing degree
Work Experience: 1 to 2 years work experience as a nurse
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care.
Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care.
Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports and responding to both oral and written enquiries.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical and clinic staff and the public.
The ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
Have a minimum administrative background and be able to take on medical/non-medical responsibilities
Committed to helping refugees and working within IRC clinic protocols.
Language Skills: Fluent in Arabic. Basic knowledge of English.
Certificates or Licenses: Be certified to practice nursing in Jordan as a nurse and have any other the necessary certification from the government, and maintain his/her license throughout the duration of the hire
Working Environment: The IRC is providing Primary health Care services to the Syrian Refugees and vulnerable Jordanian communities in Mafraq and Ramtha through two fixed clinics and two mobile clinics. This position will be based in any or IRC clinics but will also provide the required services as a nurse in Irbid and mobile clinics as and when needed. The security situation in the IRC intervention areas is generally calm and the security department of IRC shares regular security updates to keep the management and staff informed about the new developments.
