The job holder is responsible to organize, supervise, control, and coordinate the work activities and resources necessary for managing the consignment transportation of MLC clients in the region, and to ensure on-time delivery of clients’ consignments as per contract and excellent customer service at optimal cost.
Ensures that laid down objectives from Manager – Operations for operational efficiency in relation to point to point transportation and transportation projects are met through accurate and expeditious service in accordance with the overall delivery standards of efficiency and cost.
Ensures the targets set for the region’s operations in terms of customer satisfaction, on-time performance, truck utilization/availability, SLAs, minimum occurrence of accidents and optimal utilization of resources are achieved or exceeded within the budget and on time.
Adheres to preventive maintenance schedules, including preventive maintenance schedule for the fleet management and trip planning and ensures the vehicles are delivered to the workshop for maintenance as per schedule.
Coordinates availability, maintenance and utilization of fleet with other function to ensure safety and dependability of vehicles.
Ensures the timely availability of resources as per client requirements to ensure customer satisfaction.
Liaises with sub-contractors where the operations are outsourced and ensures quality of services rendered is at par with those of MLC.
Keeps track of export levies, tariffs, and taxes in order to effectively plan and budget for each order and regularly updates Branch Supervisors to keep them informed of same.
Monitors and maintains adherence to specific performance standards in such key areas as fleet / resource utilization, cost of operations, project management.
Investigates and responds to customer or shipper complaints relating to operations department.
Suggests the acquisition of new equipment or vehicles to increase efficiency and services of the operations department.
Liaises with government agencies to determine causes of transportation accidents and to improve safety procedures.
Manages resources within the function, materials / machinery to achieve optimal utilization.
Conduct periodically meetings with the operation team to communicate further updates on work, processes, quality, complaints and any necessary safety issues.

Monitors training levels of the operation team and communicate concerned issues about needed training to the direct or related supervisor/manager.
v Maagement Reporting
Follows procedures of reporting on performance, budgets and other reports required from time to time to the Direct Manager.
